New smart TVs are on the way that will feature Amazon.com, Inc's (NASDAQ:AMZN) Fire TV operating system, and those in the market for them will only be able to get them in select spots.

The press release reveals that more than ten new TV models from Insignia (Best Buy's own brand) and Toshiba will become available in the next few months. "These Fire Edition smart TVs by Insignia and Toshiba deliver handsome visuals and all the movies and TV shows you love, with an experience that gets better every day with Alexa". "We could not have a better partner in this endeavor".

The new televisions will come with Fire TV built in, so streaming content can be searched and executed by voice through Amazon Alexa. You can also pair your TV with your Echo to integrate all of your devices.

But this new tie-up between the companies illustrates Best Buy's pragmatic and so far successful approach to its rival, which consists of focusing its efforts on initiatives that bring people to physical stores, whether it be store-in-store for emerging brands and sectors like smart home products, providing expertise to customers on things like installations, and showcasing products by companies like Google. While a shopper can easily buy a tablet or a home automation device online, they get a better visual of a TV's performance in the store (particularly if it has 4K or HD resolution), and often will make a purchasing decision based on what they see in person.
