Freezing rain a possibility says weather service

Environment Canada predicted that Southern Ontario would get some freezing rain yesterday morning but that the real action was set for this weekend.

The National Weather Service has put in place an Ice Storm Warning through 2 p.m. on Sunday for the counties of Monroe, Orleans, Livingston, Genesee, Wyoming, and Erie.

The rain and pellets will end for a few hours the evening of April 14, before returning later that night and persisting into April 15.

Environment Canada has issued sweeping freezing rain warnings for the whole of Southwestern Ontario Saturday morning - from Windsor, Chatham-Kent and Sarnia to Huron-Perth and Oxford counties. Highways, roads, walkways, and parking lots will become icy, slippery, and extremely hazardous.

Unfortunately, this might be due to a slow-moving, low-pressure system approaching the area, says Environment Canada. Thus an accumulation of ice is possible later on Saturday into Saturday night which will cause for some risky travel conditions.

Suarez was so frustrated at times for not receiving enough balls that he slammed both hands on the pitch on one occasion. I put out the same team as last week", said Barca coach Ernesto Valverde. "We will come back stronger next season".

There is the potential for a significant ice storm in some areas with freezing rain amounts in excess of 20mm. That combined with gusty northeast winds may result in power outages due to fallen tree limbs and power lines. However, CityNews Meteorologist Adam Stiles says this time the ice will accumulate in pellets.

Power outages and tree damage are likely because of the ice.

Though the system is expected to taper off by Monday, the agency is still calling for a 70 per cent chance of showers in Toronto on Monday with a high of 5 C.

GTA residents are sharing their photos and videos from across the region as the storm passes through their neighbourhoods.
