Pirates-Cubs-Snow Delay


Chicago Cubs fans will have to wait one more day to welcome their team back to Wrigley Field, as an April snowstorm has forced the Cubs to postpone Monday afternoon's home opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates. A number of these new branding and service elements were on display when the Cubs took on the Pittsburgh Pirates in their home opener on 9 April.

The Cubs tried to clear a couple inches of snow from the field before Monday's scheduled 1:20 p.m. start, even turning on the sprinklers in an effort to melt the snow. There is an off day in the series on Tuesday, so the game could be pushed back a day.

Four Cub pitchers combined to allow just three hits over the course of the game including Jose Quintana who earned his first win of the season after going six innings allowing two walks and six K's.

The Cubs remain the last team in the majors to not have played at home this season after opening the year with nine straight road games. So guys like him, as you get a little bit older, save those moments for the game and that's the message with him and all the guys. The seventh-year right-hander posted a subpar 4.69 ERA with the Rockies last season, however he did put up a solid 3.49 ERA on the road. Brandon Morrow picked up his first two saves over the weekend since he signed with Chicago in the offseason. We'll see how it goes. Pittsburgh is also 1-7 in Nova's last eight starts and 1-4 in his last five starts in game one of a series.
