"Thank you", he said, referencing a recent interview with the U.K.'s Express. "We all go thru the sludge and sh*t", he tweeted in response to a fan who thanked him. "I've struggled with that for a very, very long time".

Dwayne Johnson: "Us guys do have this tendency to hold it in, and we don't feel comfortable talking about our feelings".

Johnson's words come as athletes and professionals have opened up about the mental health struggles they face. "Struggle and pain are real". I wish I had someone at that time who could just pull me aside and (say), 'Hey, it's gonna be OK.

"I found that, with depression, one of the most important things you could realize is that you're not alone". He was so devastated and depressed after this incident which led to the state of mind where he was not willing to go anywhere or do anything, he was crying constantly.

Dwayne Johnson hasn't written off a run for office, but he's not quite ready to start making campaign posters.

Johnson recounted that he was 15 when he watched his mother, Ata, walked into oncoming traffic on Interstate 65 in Nashville shortly after they were evicted from their apartment.

Johnson secretly dealt with depression for most of his life.

He offered a bit of advice 'to all you mommies and daddies out there - you know, when emergencies like this happen, I would just highly recommend that you stay as calm and as focused as possible, because our little babies, energetically, they pick up on what we're putting out, especially in times of stress'.
