Microsoft released a new build to Fast ring members of the Windows Insider Program.

The big news around today's announcement from Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is that long-time company employee Terry Myerson will retire.

Scott Guthrie, current head of the cloud and enterprise group, will head the cloud and AI division. "His strong contributions to Microsoft over 21 years from leading Exchange to leading Windows 10 leave a real legacy".

Shares of the world's biggest software maker rose 0.8% to $90.06 at 11:59 am in NY.

"It also looks as if AI and cloud are interdependent, which makes flawless sense as the cloud is where most of the data is", Moorhead commented. Last year, Microsoft laid the groundwork created to make Windows part of a recurring subscription business via Microsoft 365, which is a bundle of Windows 10, Office 365, and elements of the Enterprise Security + Mobility service.

Reinstalling software? Older versions of Windows and Microsoft Office require product keys. Turning Office, a staid software package for desktops, into a subscription service, has become something of a runaway success.

All this marks a major move for Microsoft. Joe Belfiore is leading the "Windows client experience", meaning the shell and cross-device experiences like Edge and Launcher. All of these people will report to Jha.

Messi to return in Spain friendly
Lionel Messi has recovered from his adductor muscle problems and will play against Spain in a friendly on Tuesday. I always see him at a high level of compromise with the national team and its wishes.

In particular, now there's an executive vice president - a top Microsoft leadership position - just for Azure.

Now, Rajesh Jha will lead Myerson's former department, renamed as Experiences & Devices.

No layoffs are expected as part of the reorganization. AI Perception & Mixed Reality, one of two new groups, will be headed by Alex Kipman.

Office 2016 builds on the heritage of Microsoft's popular productivity suite, introducing cloud integration, real-time collaborative editing tools, and brand-new features for each of the included programs - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher, Access, and Skype for Business.

What's even more interesting is that Windows and Azure platforms are being merged under Jason Zander, who will be in charge of Roanne Sones, manager for Strategy and Ecosystem for Microsoft.

Universal Store and Commerce Platform: Eric Lockard and his team will also join the Cloud + AI Platform team to both help with our own digital transformation and add new capabilities to our business application efforts.

"I don't think Steve Ballmer could have maybe made this change with the same credibility", Anderson said. While discussions about Myerson's departure were in the works for some time, he described the reality of waking up to the change today as "emotional", in a blog.
