She said: "After our own school shooting at Dunblane, new gun ownership laws were introduced in Britain and that's exactly what's needed in the United States, where gun deaths are a national tragedy".
Tallulah Lefkowitz, a Petaluma High School junior, said it is "becoming increasingly apparent that we must fight for ourselves".
'Anybody who's in high school right now has been growing up on school violence, he said.
"To see their kids really put into action their free speech that is inspired by their faith, and that it's their church that is encouraging them to go out, that's what we're trying to highlight", he said.
The school shooting in Parkland, Florida, earlier this year, and subsequent news coverage have sparked, and highlighted, student activism around the country to address gun violence. And I know that none of us want our home to feel like a war zone.
Gun-rights groups like the National Rifle Association say they support tighter security around schools and other public places as well as measures to disarm the mentally disturbed and risky.

In Boston, a group of about 25 counter-protesters gathered in front of the gold-domed MA statehouse to decry calls for tougher gun laws.
"We can't ignore the issues of gun control that this tragedy raises".
The local March for Our Lives will take place on Main Street starting at 10 a.m. Participants will gather at the First Congregational Church, 73 S. Palouse St., before setting out.
