Mario is your new copilot on Google Maps for MAR10 Day

"Once enabled, you'll see that the navigation arrow has morphed into-who else?-Mario", Google Maps UX Engineer Munish Dabas wrote in a blog post.

Invoking the Mario-driven map is as simple as updating your Google Maps app for iOS or Android and navigating to your chosen location. To celebrate our favorite mustachioed plumber-turned-racer on his special day-MAR10 Day-we've collaborated with the team at Nintendo to let Mario accompany you on all of your driving adventures on Google Maps this week. To ensure you get to try it out, install the latest update to Google Maps for Android or iOS. Pull up driving directions like you normally would and look for a suspicious-looking yellow question mark block to the left of the regular Start button. You don't want to get into an accident because you were too busy staring at Mario riding his little kart.

Mario is hitting the road without a care (or blue shell) in sight as he directs you to your destination. You'll need to update your app from either the Google Play or the App Store. Google also encourages you to take a screenshot of your trip and share it with them on Twitter and Instagram.

Germany's Merkel set for challenges in her fourth term

Do any other Nintendo characters have holidays?

Google Maps has been fairly consistent with pop culture references. Or... perhaps Nintendo and Google should make this into an official app? It's something to consider.
