Original stars Ralph Macchio and William Zabka are back as karate rivals Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, and as the teaser above shows, they're still nursing wounds from the old days.
The actors originally played the characters in the 1984 movie The Karate Kid, which was followed by two sequels, a spinoff, a remake and an animated series.
The doors of Cobra Kai have reopened in EW's exclusive teaser trailer for the Karate Kid sequel series, named after the infamous karate dojo.
As Daniel and Johnny's lives become intertwined and the rivalry is reignited, that sets forth the next generation of "karate kids".
Minnesota Vikings deny Giants of Kevin Stefanski interview
But that doesn't change the fact that NY needs to get their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach positions filled quickly. If the Giants are able to hire Staley, a former running back, they likely would have to hire a separate quarterbacks coach.
"Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso aren't the same people they were in high school - but their rivalry hasn't changed one bit".
We also learn that Daniel's wife and business partner Amanda is being played by Courtney Henggler, while Mary Mouser plays their spitfire daughter, so you can bet they'll have a say in Daniel, now a successful auto dealer, getting back into the fighting game. "Cobra Kai will be a true continuation of the original films - packed with comedy, heart and thrilling fight scenes". That doesn't sit well with Daniel, who has since been leading a picture-perfect life as a family man and successful vehicle dealer.
"We do not train to be merciful here", Johnny said. Clearly, Johnny boy has not learned his lesson!
Writing the series are Josh Heald (Hot Tub Time Machine), Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (Harold & Kumar). This time, the question is not how to stop the school from reopening - but whether Johnny and Cobra Kai should be stopped at all. Courtney Henggeler will play Daniel's wife and business partner, Amanda, and Mary Mouser takes on the role of their daughter, Samantha.
