UFC 221 Post-Fight Bonuses

Luke Rockhold wasn't short on confidence heading into his UFC 221 bout with Yoel Romero, but the former middleweight champ was quick to compliment the latter, following his KO win. First, the man named middleweight champion after Georges St-Pierre vacated the belt without defending it, Robert Whittaker, contracted a staph infection in his stomach and was forced to withdraw from his first title defense against Luke Rockhold.

Rockhold landed at 185 even, while Romero weighed in at 187.7 pounds. At the end of the fight, Aussie fighter Matthews walked away with a unanimous decision victory, and both fighters walked away with $50,000 bonus checks.

A little over a minute and a half into the third, Romero manoeuvred Rockhold toward the fence with his feet and crept closer behind a double jab before firing an overhand left. The fight between Rockhold (16-4) and Romero was supposed to be for the interim middleweight title. He connected with a double jab and then fired an overhand left that dropped Rockhold onto the seat of his trousers near the cage.

Why they should fight: After a layoff of more than 14 months, Safarov finally resumed his UFC career with a bout against Tyson Pedro, but it didn't go very well for him.

At this point, someone should probably offer a college course on understanding the UFC's middleweight division.

Led coalition says it struck Syrian pro-regime forces after 'unprovoked attack'
The river has acted as a "deconfliction line" between Syrian government forces and US -backed SDF units in some areas of Syria. A U.S. official told CNN that the attackers crossed the Euphrates River and were armed with artillery and other weapons.

"It seems to make intuitive sense - the No.1 and No.2 competing", UFC senior vice president David Shaw said. He has fought just two times since he won the title in December of 2015.

Romero hit the accelerator button in the 3rd round of the fight and finished off his American opponent with a combination which was plastered all over the internet. Knowing the UFC, odds are Romero's weight miss will be swept under the rug.

These are the types of young, emerging prospects everyone needs to be paying attention to going forward and the kind of potential local stars the capacity crowd in Perth paid to see.

But Romero's weigh-in farce on Saturday took a lot of gloss off his win.

Weight, not cardio ended up preventing Romero from leaving the octagon with a belt around his waist. "It messed up my plans for the weight cut a little bit".
