Officer Killed, 2 Deputies Wounded in Locust Grove, Ga. Shooting

The incident was reported to be on St. Francis Court in Locust Grove.

The names of the officers who were wounded, along with the suspect, have not been released.

- A police officer has been involved in a shooting in Henry County, according to the Henry County Police Department.

11Alive spoke with Wade Corley, who said his brother, Michael Corley, was one of the three officers who were shot.

A police officer and two sheriff's deputies were shot Friday morning in Locust Grove, Ga., south of Atlanta, and the suspect in the shooting was killed, authorities say.

When he wouldn't cooperate, they called the Locust Grove officer for backup, McBrayer said.

Both of the deputies are at Atlanta Medical Center.

Locust Grove Mayor Robert Price told Channel 2 Action News that 26-year-old Chase Maddox starting working at the department when he was 22 years old.

Sheriff McBrayer said one deputy is in serious condition and the other is in fair condition.

Two of the officers were taken from the scene to a hospital by helicopter, while the third was taken to a hospital by ambulance. They turned away people who don't live in the neighborhood.

Locust Grove Elementary School has been placed on lockdown as a precaution, reported Fox 5.

"You never know what's going to happen when you take someone into custody", he added.
