Windows 10 Finally Beats Out 8-Year-Old Operating System

Speaking of Windows OS, Microsoft has rolled out a new update KB4078130, for its Operating systems to disable Intel Spectre Variant 2 Patch. Windows 8.1 is the third most popular version of Windows with an overall share of just 8.72 percent. The latest figures from Microsoft showed there were 600 million active monthly users of Windows 10, and some estimates are starting to indicate the overall Windows 10 userbase may be overtaking that of Windows 7.

Microsoft has a reason why they decided to make sure that Office 2019 only works with Windows 10.

Now I understand that some folks may not have the option to upgrade due to draconian office policies or potential software incompatibilities, but that shouldn't account for half a billion people still using Windows 7.

Users running older versions of Windows will need to stick with older versions of Office. And with Microsoft's current mission statement being "to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more" and Office 2019 representing the company's latest stab at productivity enhancements, the message is that those on old versions of Windows are cutting themselves off from the future.

Windows 10 only: No Microsoft Office 2019 if you're on Windows 7 or 8.1

According to a report from StatCounter, a web analytics firm, in January 2018 Windows 10 surpassed the old favorite Windows 7 in terms of its install base. This means that Office 2019's extended support will end on 14th October 2025. The company also extended support for Windows 10 Enterprise and Education editions 1607, 1703 and 1709 by another six months.

Microsoft at its Ignite Conference past year confirmed that it will be launching Office 2019 in the second half of 2018.

However, Office 2019's support will also differ from that offered for Office 2016, which receives five years of mainstream support, during which it gets feature and security updates, followed by five years of extended support, during which it gets security updates. The new client applications won't use a traditional installer; rather they will rely on Click-to-Run, a streaming and virtualization technology used to install Office applications and updates.

Office 2019 includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook apps, as well as server versions of Skype for Business, Exchange, and SharePoint. It doesn't handle high-resolution displays (or multiple-monitors) very well, there's no built-in support for things like fingerprint readers or Windows Hello facial recognition, and trying to use a touchscreen on something running Windows 7 could be considered a form of cruel and unusual punishment.

In 2016, Simpson enjoyed his stop in Scottsdale too, entering the final round in the top-10, ultimately sliding to T14th. For the first time in years, his little buddy, Griffin Connell, was not in the gallery cheering Fowler's every move.
