How will the Alex Smith trade affect the Vikings' offseason plans?

The Kansas City Star reported late Tuesday that the Chiefs have agreed in principle to a deal that would send quarterback Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins.

Some time after midnight, someone must have finally called Fuller to give him the full details of the deal, because by 12:09 a.m. on Wednesday, he seemed to be accepting that he was definitely the "unidentified" player in the deal. While the Robert Griffin III swoon produces some painful memories, would you rather the team use the draft capital they handed to Kansas City to move up and acquire a young quarterback in the draft?

Now, with Smith out of the equation, the Chiefs may not have the luxury of a steady regular season.

After five years of good but not great football, the Chiefs decided they need to go all in on a QB with a giant upside - Patrick Mahomes. These developments lend itself to the belief that Kirk Cousins the current quarterback for the Redskins would not be a fit for Cleveland either.

On Tuesday night, the Washington Redskins acquired quarterback Alex Smith from the Kansas City Chiefs in a move that shook up the quarterback market.

Mike Klis of 9News in Denver said the Broncos were interested (per the tweet above) while Mary Kay Cabot of said the Browns tried to trade for Smith but were ultimately unsuccessful.

Until that happens, the West is up for grabs. According to various reports, it nets him $70 million in guaranteed money and takes him through his age 38 season. Upon getting traded, Smith signed a four-year, $94 million contract extension. Quarterbacks are the most sought-after players, and now that the Redskins will presumably no longer be drafting a quarterback to replace Cousins, some interesting hypotheticals are cropping up.

Two people were hospitalized after the attack and one, 17-year-old Fatma Avlar, died from her wounds, the agency said. The operation is being carried out under the framework of Turkey's rights based on worldwide law, U.N.

Fuller was drafted by Washington in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Hours after the Smith-to-Washington deal was first reported, Bovada released its odds for Cousins' landing spot in 2018.

All eyes will now turn to the future of Kirk Cousins over the coming months as a host of teams queue up for the services of a man who has passed 4000 yards for the past three seasons. The Browns have extra draft picks and cap space, but they also have one win the past two seasons. Washington was backed into a corner monetarily after franchising him twice in a row, but Cousins knew that each one-year deal only heightened the low end of his salary.

Mahomes got his first start, and first career win, in the 2017 season finale in Denver.

It's clear he has a lot to live up to in the responses of Chiefs players, past and present, to the news that Smith had been traded.

If the Vikings place the franchise tag on Keenum, the Broncos would be left to go all in on Cousins. He said that signing Bates was a wise decision for NY, who will look to improve from a 5-11 finish this season.

The deal also gives the Chiefs a much-needed pick in this year's draft.
