Arsenal line up star striker as Sanchez replacement

Arsenal target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will have showdown talks with Dortmund bosses amid reports he wants to leave the club.

Arsenal are said to have offered Olivier Giroud to Dortmund in a bid to soften the blow of losing Aubameyang, as well as £30m.

Now with Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott possibly moving out this month, Arsenal sources have confirmed that they are looking at replacements and Aubameyang's party believe he is very high on their wanted list.

The Gabon global was left out Dortmund's squad for the game against Wolfsburg at the weekend due to disciplinary problems.

It looks increasingly likely that Alexis Sanchez will secure a move away from the Emirates Stadium this January, with the Chilean close to securing a move to either Old Trafford or the Etihad Stadium.

Aubameyang's talent is undeniable, as he has scored 141 goals in 212 appearances with Dortmund.

Although there's nothing to officially say Arsenal are in for the 28-year-old, many have interpreted Hector Bellerin's recent actions on Twitter as a clue that this is more than just a rumour. Dortmund are willing to sell him for 50 million Pounds.

Dortmund chief Michael Zorc revealed that lateness was the cause of Aubameyang's disciplinary issues. "It's an added pressure that a player doesn't need, so I think it's the best for him and for us, while the doubt is in the air, to protect him". I don't know what is going through his mind.

The Red Devils are reportedly prepared to pay the £35million price tag Arsenal have slapped on Sanchez's head - a figure that turned Manchester City off the forward.

Sources told Sky Sports that the deal involving Sanchez and Mkhitaryan would be a straight swap with no fee.

The Mirror first reported Aubameyang's agreement with Arsenal. The Gunners are suffering in the Premier League and sit at sixth, eight points off a Champions League spot for next season.
