The Ranger's suspension is a dual A-arm with coil springs in front with a solid Dana rear axle with leaf springs in back.
It'll sit below the Ford F-150, the market-leading full-size truck, with Ford hoping to attract legacy Ranger owners.
"Ranger's proven 2.3-liter EcoBoost provides a torque target on par with competing V6 engines, but with the efficiency of a four-cylinder", said Hau Thai-Tang, Ford executive vice president, Product Development and Purchasing. "The new Ranger is designed for today's mid-size truck buyer, delivering even more utility, capability and technology for those who blend city living with more off-the-grid adventures on weekends".
Needless to say, Americans can't get enough of trucks, and Ford is looking to fatten its coffers with a new entry. An off-road drive assist technology maintains speed as low as 1 miles per hour and as high as 20 miles per hour, in any transfer-case setting.
Powering the Ranger is a twin-scroll turbocharged, 16-valve DOHC direct-injected 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Years Zainab Became Rape Victim and Murdered in Kasur
Hundreds of enraged protestors clashed with the police on Wednesday over the rape and murder of a minor girl in Kasur district. The Senate Standing Committee on Interior also took notice of the incident and ordered the Punjab police to take swift action.
The Ranger nameplate is stamped across the tailgate. Despite the 10-speed transmission where a rotary control selector could be possible, the Ranger gets a sportier transmission lever in the center console. The 2019 Ford Ranger will be offered in XL, XLT and Lariat trim levels with available Chrome and Sport appearance and FX Off-Road packages, and in SuperCab or SuperCrew body styles. The truck will also have an FX4 Off-Road Package. The Ranger features styling and performance both inside and outside, which means this truck should preform well both on the pavement and in the dirt. Ford's Smart Trailer Tow connector can warn about mis-connected trailer links.
On the safety front, Rangers (XLT and Lariat) will come standard with Auto Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Waring, Reverse Sensing System and the Blind Spot Information System. While Ford made no mention of a diesel engine, the rest of the world enjoys their Rangers with a turbo-diesel 3.2-liter five-cylinder engine, which wasn't rated by the EPA until the new Ford Transit van showed up sporting one. The interior features and trim incline toward durability, not luxury.
One of the largest crossovers from the F-150 can be seen in Ford's attention to how many people nowadays hit the dirt with their truck. It's been programmed with four modes: Normal, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Rut, and Sand. However, its fully-boxed ladder frame, exterior styling, and package options have been redesigned to specifically suit the American market. Called Trail Control, it engages at speeds from 1 to 20 miles per hour and can be slowed to a new speed (instead of disengaged) by applying the brake. Dubbed Trail Control, it's effectively cruise control but for off-road use. A Trail Control function is also included, which lets the vehicle modulate braking and acceleration when off-road. An electronic-locking rear differential will be standard on the FX2 and FX4, and optional on all other models. A year on, the 2019 Ford Ranger is stepping into the light.
The new Ford Ranger 2019 has been revealed at the Detroit Auto Show.
Ford will build the new '19 Ranger beginning early next year, famously, at its Michigan Assembly Plant in the City of Wayne, where it now produces the Focus and C-Max.
