Boy steals Salvation Army kettle from man at mall, police say


The Yorkton Salvation Army's Christmas Kettle Campaign has reached $43,494 so far.

By 11 a.m., fewer than 20 bicycles remained and very few bags of toys and food.

Salvation Army's El Paso County Coordinator, Captain Erin Kauffman, said if everyone comes together, they can help more people.

The toys, they say, are as much a gift to each of them.

Therapy donkeys from Young's Funny Farm were on Public Square helping the Wilkes-Barre Kiwanis Club raise money and awareness for the Salvation Army.

"If your employer gives out ham and turkeys, that's something you may not be able to use, that's something we'd be more than grateful to take those from you".

Instead of sitting at home, Payton chose to get out and do what he could to help his community when his wife mentioned the Salvation Army's need for bell ringers.

Officials say more than 400 families need help this year, the event goes until Friday.

Toys donated from Corus Radio London listeners to the Salvation Army.

"We know the people of Whitehorse are generous and supportive of their community, and we hope donations pick up the closer we get to Christmas". Other organisations such as the Learning Centre and National Disabilities Unit, as well as people who supported the Salvation Army, also received donations.

A total of 375 families have registered with the Salvation Army to receive assistance this Christmas.

Donations can also be made through the Free 98-1 Rockin' the Stockin' Toy Drive, which benefits the Salvation Army.
