Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers' offense did not immediately continue the ride of momentum from his first week as a starter. Lamm became the fifth Texans player in two weeks to depart a game with a concussion.

Garoppolo, who arrived in Santa Clara on October 31 after a trade with the New England Patriots, has the most yards passing for any 49ers quarterback making his first two starts since the National Football League merger in 1970. Savage suffered a concussion during the game. Johnson was observed spiking his helmet on the sideline after getting beaten for the touchdown.

Houston quarterback Tom Savage was cleared to re-enter Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers for one series after sustaining a concussion, raising questions about the NFL's procedure for evaluating such injuries during games.

T.J. Yates replaced Savage late in the first half and led the Texans on touchdown drives on his first two drives.
