Indian troops martyr two youth, soldier killed in Qazigund attack


Two militants and one soldier were killed as a group of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) ambushed an army patrol on Monday noon, triggering a daylong gunfight in Kulgam's Qazigund area.

According to sources, army convoys are easy targets for militants.

Terrorists attacked an army convoy in Jammu and Kashmir's Qazigund before at least three of them took cover in a building.

After the attack, the militants, said to be two in number, entered a private house which was surrounded immediately by the security forces.

Qazigund/Jammu and Kashmir, December 4: An Army jawan was injured in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Qazigund, on Monday.

Two soldiers sustained injuries in the attack. "The injured was rushed to a hospital", they said. "Great success for security forces", tweeted state police chief Shesh Paul Vaid. "Search operations are on", an army spokesperson said. The security forces fired tear-smoke shells and pellets to disperse them.

The security forces used improvised explosive devices to blow up the house in their final assault against holed up militants, the police sources said.

Meanwhile, people, mostly youths hit the streets, trying to disrupt the search operation in the area.
