Federal Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Shelley Lynch confirmed in an email Saturday that 32-year-old Earl Kimrey was living with 3-year-old Mariah Woods and her family when she disappeared almost a week ago. Woods lives with her mother and her mother's live-in boyfriend on Dawson Cabin Road in Jacksonville, North Carolina.
Earl Kimrey, 32, was taken into custody by sheriff's investigators Friday. He is charged with concealing of death, obstruction of justice, second-degree burglary, felony larceny and possession of stolen property.
Kimrey is now being held in the Onslow County Detention Center under a $1,010,000 bond.
Investigators believe, due to evidence gathered, that Mariah is deceased.
Authorities said they have not yet located Mariah's body, and the missing persons search that included Federal Bureau of Investigation agents and K-9 units will now shift to a recovery effort.Читайте также: Parvez Musharraf declares full support for terror groups-Lashkar and JuD
The search was organized in connection with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
Authorities have been scanning the area and searching for Woods since her disappearance. The FBI said Thursday that it is testing "items of interest" at its lab in Quantico, Virginia.
People with surveillance footage near where a 3-year-old girl disappeared in eastern North Carolina are being urged to call police and share the video as they investigate the girl's death.
Miller said that the outpouring of support from the community has been "overwhelming" and asked that residents continue to support each other "as we all grieve the life of this little girl and still focus on finding her".
Earlier this week, Mariah's biological father, who has not seen her for more than a year, said he did not believe she was abducted. Authorities are searching for her body. ABC News reports that her mother reached out to the public in an emotion-filled plea Monday. She said her boyfriend saw the child at about midnight when she got up and he told her to go back to bed. "She's my baby, she's my everything", said Kristy Woods in a press conference.При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
