Chiefs struggle finding explanation for letdown loss vs. Giants

The Chiefs were able to drive to the Giants' 5, sparked by a 32-yard pass to Travis Kelce (with defensive end Olivier Vernon in coverage down the field) and a 6-yard scramble by Smith on third-and-5 in which he hurdled Andrew Adams for the first-down yardage and also went out of bounds to stop the clock.

Reid's play-calling and quarterback Alex Smith's execution weren't up to the task as the Chiefs failed to get into the end zone. That's when cornerback Janoris Jenkins intercepted Smith, who came into Sunday with the best passer rating in the league having thrown just one interception.

As it turned out, the defender did get his hands on him twice - one time before he caught it and once on the ground. Smith has been a boom-or-bust QB option this season and will be a QB1 against the Bills in Week 12.

Head coach Andy Reid told reporters after the game that everyone on the team shared ownership of the loss.

The Chiefs need to get back on track.

The Chiefs threw the game away with bad decisions and questionable personnel usage. So can the 1-8 New York Giants take advantage of a team that's in the midst of a mini-slump? "At the end of the game we came out 12-9".

While the Giants will not make a playoff run this season, there is still a tiny glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.

George Clooney returning to TV for Catch-22 mini-series
Catch-22, considered one of the most influential books of the 20th century, follows the exploits of Captain John Yossarian, a U.S. George Clooney will return to TV for the limited series " Catch 22 ", Deadline reported today.

"We're going to have to go look at the film and man up", tight end Travis Kelce said.

But that means little at this point for a team that finished a combined 23-9 the previous two seasons and still couldn't get past the divisional round. "We're not good enough right now, so we've got to keep working, so that's where it always starts. We've all got a piece of that thing". I'm not sure though that they knew what was coming.

While the Giants decision to take Engram in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft has been a point of contention-some believe Big Blue should have taken an offensive lineman instead-you can't deny how special he has been this season. He was beaten on an 83-yard touchdown and whiffed on a tackle on a go-ahead 47-yarder just before halftime. He also lost an interception on a pass interference penalty.

The Chiefs look to stay red hot against the spread in games on the road as they head into NY to face off against the Giants who have been horrendous this season, and with this one having playoff implications for the visitors I don't anticipate this will be too pretty of an afternoon for the G-Men.

With speculation about McAdoo's future just swirling after the losses to the Rams and Niners, they issued a statement Monday, saying that McAdoo would remain in charge through at least the end of the season.

"I thought Coach Sully [offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan] called an aggressive game in overtime", Manning said. Brett Favre holds the record of 297. The Chiefs may have to generate pressure by blitzing other linebackers and safeties to force Eli Manning in to some of his trademark interceptions.
