Kevin Spacey's Downward Spiral: Pulled From Upcoming Film

Ridley Scott, the British director of the thriller All The Money In the World, has chose to replace Spacey even though the film was finished weeks ago. Scott is also determined to to keep the film's December 22 release date. Co-stars Michelle Williams and Mark Wahlberg will be part of the reshoot, Deadline Hollywood reported.

Despite the age difference between the two actors - at 87, Plummer is nearly 30 years Spacey's senior - the recasting will come as a welcome development for director Ridley Scott.

The disgraced Oscar-winner's scenes as plutocrat Getty in the movie, titled All The Money In The World, will now be shelved, with Canadian actor Christopher Plummer signed on to play the role in a series of hasty reshoots.

A MA woman on Wednesday accused Spacey of sexually assaulting her 18-year-old son on the holiday island of Nantucket last year and said police had opened a criminal investigation.

Based on a true story, All the Money in the World details the harrowing 1973 kidnapping of J. Paul Getty's 16-year-old grandson, J. Paul Getty III (Charlie Plummer, no relation), and Getty's refusal to comply with the kidnappers' demands. It had already been pulled from its premiere next week over the mounting allegations against Spacey.

"To Kevin Spacey, I want to say this: Shame on you for what you did to my son", Unruh said, flanked by her daughter and lawyer Mitchell Garabedian, who has represented hundreds of clergy sexual abuse victims.

Not only was he recast in All the Money in the World, he was also fired from Netflix's House of Cards. This comes following sexual assault and harassment allegations against Spacey.

Former US TV news anchor Heather Unruh says her son was assaulted by the star after meeting him in a bar previous year.

Spacey has suffered a rapid fall from grace since actor Anthony Rapp, who starred in the 2005 musical Rent, accused Spacey of making sexual advances toward him in 1986 when Rapp was 14.

Spacey's representatives say he is seeking unspecified treatment.
