Another Sexual Predator in Hollywood Faces Allegations

The director, 72, denied the allegations when contacted by the Los Angeles Times, according to the publication.

Titled "The Pickup Artist's Guide to Picking Up Women: A Case-by-Case Look at Movie Director James Toback's Street Technique", it outlined stories of more than a dozen women who alleged Toback tried to pick them up, including the writer of the piece, Vincenza Demetz.

The women said Toback would tout his success in Hollywood and lured them into a meeting, interview or audition for a role. He would then proceed to inappropriate sexual behaviour in front of them, the report said.

One woman recounted the time when she met Toback at his NY home and he wouldn't let her leave until she grabbed his nipples and looked into his eyes while he masturbated. He also claimed to the Times he was medically incapable of such behavior, citing diabetes and a heart condition.

Weeks after a wave of sexual harassment allegations against producer Harvey Weinstein began, actresses are still coming forward while male Hollywood powerhouses are attempting to make amends for what they knew. But eventually, she went to hotel room with Toback, where - despite her reservations - he persuaded her to get undressed, she said.

Louise Post, a guitarist for the '90s alt-rock band Veruca Salt, reports her own grotesque alleged run-in with the director while still a student at Barnard College in the late 1980s.

"The way he presented it, it was like, 'This is how things are done.' I felt like a prostitute, an utter disappointment to myself, my parents, my friends. But the women I talked to who DID go someplace private with Toback, told stories that were worse than the women only accosted on the street".

Numerous women interviewed quit acting after their alleged encounters with the director, with seven (including one more famous Hollywood actress) wishing to remain anonymous due to the trauma they report to have suffered at Toback's hands, and the control their encounters with him have over their lives, still. "He always wanted me to read for him in a hotel or come back to his apartment, like, 'How serious are you about your craft?'" "Going to his apartment has been the source of shame for the past 30 years, that I allowed myself to be so gullible", Post told the Times. His opening line, they say, followed the same pattern: "My name's James Toback".

When the actress jumped away from him, he ejaculated in his trousers. Over several dinners, he asked her personal questions about her sex life, even though it made her uncomfortable. Through a spokeswoman, Weinstein has "unequivocally denied" all allegations of rape.
