And Canyon Fire 2, in the Anaheim Hills, has destroyed at least two dozen homes on its way to consuming 7,500 acres.

Anaheim evacuations: east of Serrano, north of Nohl Ranch, south of the 91 Freeway and west of the 241.

The fire dubbed the Canyon Fire 2, was reported at about 10:00 a.m., and has scorched an estimated 500 acres and threatening many more million dollar homes in the Orange Park Acres area.

At least ten people have been killed and more than 100 are missing as wildfires ravage that state.

While personnel for the individual strike teams vary, Lim explained, there are 122 now battling Canyon Fire 2.

"We are monitoring the situation minute by minute and will resume classes when the local fire and health authorities, as well as campus leadership, determine that it is safe, " said Chapman spokeswoman Sheri Ledbetter.

An estimated 5,000 homes have been evacuated with an additional 3,500 "under threat" from the fire, Wyatt told the Register.

By mid-afternoon, the fire had consumed more than 2,000 acres and prompted evacuations in many neighborhoods in and around Anaheim Hills.

Residents with horses were being asked to bring them to Los Alamitos race track.

About 20 people spent the night at El Modena High, where they were served a breakfast of coffee, donuts and fruit.
