Great Games Missing from the SNES Classic


While not the company's biggest-selling console of all time, it was the victor of that generation of gaming consoles, outselling the Sega Genesis by nearly 20 million units thanks to stronger graphics and a lineup of games that included several featuring Mario and Donkey Kong. Oh you mean like releasing a new version of the NES back in November 2016 and seeing it fly off store shelves at light speed? Gamers who were unable to secure a pre-order when they went on sale headed into retail stores yesterday and braved long lines in an attempt to bring home the tiny console and its 21 pre-loaded games. Although die-hard fans might want to get one fast before it can only be found on eBay, casual gamers may be better off skipping the console and downloading a few classic games a la carte from the Nintendo eShop, the company's online store. That's a solid improvement from the NES Classic, which only came with one.

Z over at GeekDad reviews the system in depth, and mentions that Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Aime has promised that production for the SNES Classic was increased to keep the system from being scarce. While Nintendo promises that they'll reach demand, Nintendo fans are still skeptical, and are seeking ways to play the lost Holy Grail that is the unreleased Star Fox 2 without the microconsole. It comes preloaded with twenty-one original games.
