The 19-year-old, identified as Sharath, was a second-year student of automobile engineering. The six men arrested for the crime allegedly led the police to the body. They first disposed of the body in the Narasimaiah lake, but it resurfaced on the third day, forcing them to fish out the bloated body and drive around the city, until they chose to bury it at Kurubarapalya Bande from where it was exhumed on Friday morning.
A Bengaluru teen's body was found on Friday near a lake days after he sent a video to his parents.
"Though Sharath did not respond on his mobile when his parents tried to contact him, his father received a video message from his son's mobile asking him to arrange the ransom for his release", said Prasad.
Police said they believe the abductors killed the teenager because they feared being caught. Sharath Kumar was kidnapped in a sedan and was thereafter kept hostage in the vehicle, said police.
After Vishal realised that the family had approached the police, the gang allegedly strangled Sharath and dumped the body into a lake.

Sharath's father, V Niranjan Kumar, is a senior officer in the Income Tax Department.
"One more accused (Shanthakumar) is absconding and we are trying to nab him", Bengaluru Police Commissioner Suneel Kumar told reporters here.
The kidnappers sent a WhatsApp video from Sharath's phone to his parents in which it was seen that the young boy asked his parents to submit a ransom of Rs 50 lakh to the abductors who as per him looked like terrorists. But it floated to the surface in a day or two, following which the kidnappers dug a pit near the lake and buried the body in it.
His idea was to ensure that the family did not file a police complaint, get the ransom amount, and distribute it among themselves. They continued to visit the lake and saw that the body was floating again on September 19.
