Ernesto Valverde and Paulinho speak out after Getafe La Liga win

Barcelona will feel fortunate to leave with all three points after being nowhere near their best against an impressive Getafe outfit.

But, the first-half performance Ernesto Valverde's side gave in the first-half wasn't up to scratch and Barcelona were to enter the half-time break 1-0 down courtesy of a stunning volley from Getafe's Japanese worldwide Gaku Shibasaki.

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde made just the one change from the 3-0 win over Juventus on Tuesday night, with Sergi Roberto replacing Nelson Semedo at right-back.

As for Getafe, Jorge Molina once again led the line for the capital outfit, while Japan global Shibasaki also kept his position in the team.

Getafe had a wonderful chance to take the lead in the 17th minute when a deflected Shibasaki cross fell for Molina at the far post, but the striker turned just the wrong side of the post as Barcelona survived another risky moment.

The France winger who an initial €105million, was making his first La Liga start for the Catalans, picked up a hamstring injury and was replaced by Gerard Deulofeu.

Paulinho celebrates his victor at Getafe on Saturday.

Barca would equalise through Denis Suarez before Paulinho, a second half replacement for Ivan Rakitic, scored with his first attempt of the game.

The midfielder latched on to Lionel Messi's pass, surged forward and held off a challenge from Djene, before smashing home a superb finish across Vicente Guaita and into the far corner of the net.

The victory keeps Barca ideal in La Liga on the young season, with 12 points from four matches.

And Paulinho was happy to get off the mark for his new side.
