In an incident in Paris on Friday, a knife-wielding assailant was said to have been subdued by French soldiers after he attacked a soldier at a major subway location. "We don't know more about the intentions of the attacker who is arrested", Parly told local broadcaster Europe1. Reports state that the French soldier has not sustained any injuries.

The man was taken to the main Chatelet police station, and now faces multiple terror charges.

An individual armed with a knife threatened a soldier patrolling the Châtelet metro station in Paris.

French Defense Minister Florence Parly said the number of troops involved in the Sentinelle operation would remain at 7,000 under the plan.

Earlier this year, Serena announced her pregnancy to the world with an Instagram post in April that she said was mistakenly sent. It turns out, Williams knew she was pregnant even when she won the Australian Open women's single final back in January.

The local prosecutor's office said witnesses of the attack in a public park of the town center heard the attacker shout Allahu Akbar while hitting the women, who were taken to hospital but whose life is not in danger.

Friday's attack came one day after the government announced changes to the task force, which has been targeted in the past. The soldiers still will patrol around major tourist sites, places of worship, train stations and airports. Police confirmed they are treating the attack as a terror incident.

On August 9, at least six French soldiers were injured, three of them seriously, when they were hit by a vehicle in a north-western Paris suburb. In April, a police officer was killed in a shooting on the Champs-Elysées.
