Arrest made after report of active shooter at OH high school

Columbus police announced Friday morning that an arrest has been made in the reported active shooter situation at an OH high school.

Columbus police said on Twitter Friday morning that the department's SWAT team made the arrest and seized a gun. Though the student reportedly had gang-affiliated content on his personal Facebook page, a source told The Columbus Dispatch that the shooting wasn't gang-related.

Abdullahi's is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on September 18 at 9am. He was charged with improperly discharging a firearm in a school safety zone, which is a felony. Police said other charges are expected. An assistant principal called 9-1-1 from inside a closet, and another staff member intervened and kept the suspect calm until officers arrived. Parents should not come to school. "Guns are always going to be unsafe in the hands of people that don't really think always about the consequences". "It's really important that we know what our kids are doing, and keep guns out of their hands".

Police did not say whether the suspect was a student.

Police say the school is on lockdown and police are searching the building.
