The unemployment rates for cities have not been seasonally adjusted, so they can not be directly compared with the state unemployment rate. "If this estimate holds we would be only 7,800 jobs from a complete recovery by this measurement". The national jobless rate was 4.3 percent.

Santa Barbara County's unemployment rate in July was 4.7 percent, up from 4.3 in June.
