Florida DOH confirms sexually transmitted case of Zika in Pinellas

The name and gender of the person infected with the virus have not been disclosed.

In late 2015, the Caribbean confirmed its first case of the Zika virus, followed by a dramatic increase in 2016. Pregnant couples with recent travel to areas with active Zika transmission should consider using condoms for the duration of the pregnancy. Furthermore, Zika virus has been detected in the semen of men exposed to the virus in seven separate studies.
