First Look at the Joe Paterno Film Starring Al Pacino

In a release Sunday, the network posted a photo of Pacino wearing Paterno's iconic shirt and tie, Penn State gear and big glasses while sporting his gray hair. He becomes involved in his assistant coach Jerry Sandusky's sexual abuse scandal, which leads to his credibility and legacy being questioned and criticized.

The film marks Pacino's latest in a string of HBO efforts, along with the Jack Kevorkian biopic "You Don't Know Jack", "Phil Spector", which followed the murder trial of the music business legend, and the mini-series "Angels in America".

Executive produced by Barry Levinson, Jason Sosnoff, Tom Fontana, Edward R. Pressman, Rick Nicita and Lindsay Sloane, the untitled Joe Paterno film is produced by Amy Herman in association with Sony Pictures Television. His record was tarnished after NCAA vacated 111 of the games he had won, all of which occurred between 1998-when he allegedly first had knowledge of Sandusky's conduct-and the end of his coaching career in 2011, when he was forced to resign.

Levinson's upcoming film will also star Riley Keough as Sara Ganim, the 23-year-old reporter who first brought to light Sandusky's sexual abuse story.

Films - which doesn't have a title at the moment - focuses on Paterno during the fallout of the Jerry Sandusky child abuse scandal.

The movie, which will be on HBO, is now in production. Annie Parisse will play Mary Kay Paterno, Joe Paterno's daughter. Paterno was sacked shortly after Sandusky's arrest in 2011 and died two months later.
